Thank You Ma'am

Authors note: This is a creative ending to Thank you Ma'am. I chose this ending because I think that the boy is a good person and he just needed to be guided in the right way. he just needed a little push in the good direction.

She led him down the hall to the front door and opened it. "Goodnight!" Behave yourself, boy!" she said, looking out into the street.
The boy wanted to say something else other that "Thank you, ma’am" to Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones, but he couldn’t do so as he turned at the barren stoop and looked back at the large woman in the door. He barely managed to say "Thank you" before she shut the door.  And he thought he would never see her again. After that night he turned his life around he got a job at the local Wal-Mart.  He stopped stealing and was earning everything himself. While he was stacking food on some shelves he felt  a tap on his shoulder, he turned around that there she was. “ Oh my gosh! Hi,” he said . She said hello and asked him how he was doing and if he had gotten those blue  shoes. He had, and he showed her that he was wearing them and he wore them every day. They talked for a while just asking about each other’s lives and how they were doing and what they had been up too.  Then they said goodbye to each other. As she was walking away he forgot that he never did thank her for all she did that night. He ran to catch up with her and said “ Thank you ma’am” hugged her then disappeared. After that day he never saw her again. But he knew that it was good that he had tried to steal her purse and failed or else he would still he where he was, trying to steal money for things, no job, no life ahead of him. Now he had a job, money of his own, and a life ahead of him.

Do the good thing it will end up helping you

Authors Note: This is a alternation ending to the story we were read in reading lab. I picked it to end this way because I think that every person has good in them, and everyone can do the good think if they chose to. So I decided to make Cody do the right thing even though he may have needed the money, he wanted to earn it not take or steal for things.

I looked at the gold, then thought again of what Clarence had said to me, " You better leave me with my treasure!" I look at the gold once more, then picked it up and walked out the door. I walk until he found where he had burred Clarence, took a shovel and started to dig. I dug until he hit the wood casket. I un-screwed the screws and took of the top of the casket. Found the belt that help the treasure in place and strapped it back on his cold, colorless hand. I had never felt so bad in his life, almost stealing a mans most prized possession. I have been so dishonest, disloyal he would have been to Mr. Buchanan, who had done nothing wrong to me. I placed the top of the casket back on and closed it for the final time. I thought Clarence would like it if he took a minute to say something about him and his life, so I did. I pleaded to him how sorry I was, how I wouldn't ever be able to live with himself if I had. I said a final goodbye and turned around and walked off never returning to his grave.

It's four years later, my life is better than ever.My girlfriend and I are talking walk into the woods, we come upon some stone with words carved into it. As my girlfriend is reading what the stone says I remember that is this Mr. Buchanan grave. I told my girlfriend about the whole story and about how after I returned that gold treasure that my life has been better than ever. I then on that day I made a promise to myself that every year on the day of Clarence's death I would visit his grave stone.

On year later I was standing over by Clarence's grave stone and went over and place the gold ring I had as my own treasure. "This is for you , I almost took your treasure so therefor you can have mine."  After that I walked away, the ring still lays there to today, untouched. I'm the only person who roams even close to Clarence grave. Every single year I walks to the grave and every single year my ring still sits on his grave, me not even bothering to touch it. I don't know why but that old man that he worked for means so much to him that he couldn't understand. The one day that I didn't go see him was the day of his own funereal.

You aren't as tough as you look.

Authors Note:  This is a character analysis about Massie from the book Clique. I related Massie to Regina Gorge from Mean Girls. They both start out the same and change into better people by the end.

Even though Massie looks hardcore on the outside she will learn that she can be soft and gushy on the inside. . Everyone has an attitude, including Massie. In the book Clique  Massie houses her dads long time friend and family until they can find a house. They have a daughter Masses age, Claire. Massie is a 7th grade girl, who lives in Westchester, New York. Her family is rich, they have money, she gets whatever she wants. A main assumption people think of when they hear that you are rich is that you get whatever you want and have the attitude to go with it. Massie thinks she is better than everyone. She thinks she rules the school. She has that if you got it flaunt it attitude. She wants to show everyone how "amazing" she is. She has an attitude with her friends, family, workers, even the people she isn't friends with. She thinks that if you don't have money you can't be her friend because you aren't like her.

Massie has to cancel her shopping trip with her friends because of Clair's arrival. That already doesn't have Claire on Masses' good side. Massie shows up and she is in just normal clothes for a 7th grader. Massie doesn't like it. She doesn't like how she is dressed so normal. Massie is used to the highest fashion there can be for a girl. Massie feels like she is going to be left out, all her friends will have new inside jokes from today and she won't know them. She hates the feeling of being left out. She would rather leave someone out than have it be her. Her mother then orders her to show Claire her room. Massie hates her room, she think it is so "Last Season", but you Claire it is a dream room for her. Massie also has to show Claire where she will be staying, her parents guesthouse.

Claire tries and tries to make Massie like her, but Massie is just so stubborn. Masses friends think that Claire is okay, but because what Massie wants Massie gets, they "don't like Claire". Massie goes as far as to tell them things that aren't true about her. Claire eventually finds a friend that she likes for who she is. Claire still continues to be nice to Massie. Then at a party at Masses house, Massie changes how she thinks about Claire. Claire helps her hide from embarrassment. They end up hiding in some bushes out of site for a couple of hours. They talk and it is nice. Massie finds out that Claire really isn’t different from her and her friends. Massie finally finds out that Claire is nice and funny. In the end of the book she says to claire “ we are going to be friends for a long time.”

Massie is like Regina George from mean girls in some ways. They both are the “popular girls” of the school. They both have money from their parents and are spoiled. They both don’t like the new girls at first, but they end up hanging out with them to make the new girls make fools of themselves. They both end up changing in the end, it takes regen to get hit by a bus and Massie to get embarrassed. They end up realizing that if you aren’t like others that they can be nice and be good friends with them, Massie realise that even though she looks though she has a soft spot for the people that are going to become true friends.

Founding Fathers

Authors note: This is a essay about the founding fathers of our country. This is to remind everyone how many amazing things these men did for our country.

Dear Leaders of our country,

Yes, you are the reason our county today is held together. You all need an endless number of thanks. You laid down the basic laws for us today. You would be shocked to see the kids these days. Even the littlest kids in grade school take everything for granted. From the education they get, the houses over their heads, and the food that they get fed. When you laid down these sets of 'rules', you planed kid to be like they were in those days. They took nothing for granted. I think the reason we take advantage of things because of the technology. We can do much more on our own with it, therefore we are not using or caring about teacher and parents opinions.

George Washington you were the first president in our country. That is amazing, You will be remembered for all time. I don't know if you know this but you are also on the dollar bill. I honestly think that is so cool. I mean how amazing would it be to have your face on the money that all of out country uses every day. You basically set the foundation for our country and you obviously did an amazing job because we are still going today. Ben Franklin you are an amazing inventor. You invented things that if you wouldn't have made them no one would have and we would be without them. And accomplishing all of that and have 17 brothers and sisters at home. Wow! You were really motivated to get a good education to be what you became. Thomas Jefferson you were president for two whole terms, but before you were the governor of Virgina That's amazing, It is even amazing to be president for one term. But you went all out and were in the white house for 8 years.

You all have helped out our country in amazing ways. But it is sad to say that I think that you would be disappointed to how much we have changed and bent the rules and how much we take for granted. You amazing men are forever thanked for making our country safe.

Love,
A loving citizen of this amazing county you have made.

Speak

Authors note: This is a cause and effect on the book Speak

In the book Speak Melinda is going to a end of the summer party. It's a high school party not a party for the incoming freshmen. But at this time she was still friends with Rachelle, and her brother had gotten them in. Mel being so young and insistent, got drunk and wandered into the woods alone. Andy Evens took the opportunity in his hands. He went up and kissed her. She thought it was going to be nothing more than making out. Then he unzipped his pants and threw her to the ground. She just thought he was hurting her when in reality he was raping her. Mel was confused and upset. When she finally got free she called the cops. Then someone yelled " The cops are coming!". For the whole party to hear.

This caused Mel to have no friends in high school everyone hated her for ruining the end of summer party. The only person that would talk to her is the new girl Heather. Heather and her were totally different. Soon Heather and her grew apart.Mel then had no friends. She got even more depressed and resorted to cutting herself. Mel got blamed for something that wasn't even her fault. She wasn't wanted and she was outcast-ed for being raped, and not being able to say no. This is like the whole Steve Bartmen thing, he was out casted for doing something that he thought was right. All he did was try and touch the ball, there were others to but he was the one that was"picked" to be out casted that all the cubs fans.

The Giver

Authors Note: This is about a book I read a couple weeks ago. The title is The Giver, By Louis Lowry. It is the conflicts and resolutions of the book.

In the book Giver  Jonas's community is all the same. They have a sameness. Their are just a select few that look different. But since they don't see color it is harder to tell. Most peoples eyes are dark, for a brown color. Jonas and the other few are light, for a blue color. In this community this is a HUGE difference. These people who are different from all the others are usually the ones chosen to be the new givers when they get their assignments. Jonas gets the assignment of being the giver. Here he learns that his job isn't all that. For every good there is a bad. He knows all, he gets all the memories. But he must go through pain and suffer. He can see whatever he wants in the community, but he knows all peoples secrets and what they do. Jonas doesn't think it is fair that one single person has to take in all the memories. He thinks that everyone in the community should have memories. Both good and bad. To do this he must leave the community so the memories he has go free and to other members of the community.

The Conflict in the book is Jonas knowing all these feelings that no ones else knows. He wants to find a way so that everyone can feel all these different emotions. The resolution is Jonas makes a plan to leave the community, by doing this he will then leave the memories to all the people of the community. He wants his community to not be in sameness and have differences.

Who am I to her? The Boy Who Cried Wolf?

Authors note: This is a personal narrative that I wrote about how i broke my wrist for the second time.

It all happened in a matter of seconds. I was skating like a pro and then the next I was on the floor with my wrist throbbing with pain. I look down at my wrist, which was already turning purple with a big hard lump on one side. Then I flashed back to last year, when I had broken my other wrist. Purple, swollen, and a big hard bone that looked as big as an elephant. Right then I knew it was broken. Once I realized it was broken for sure, tears dripped out my eyes. For I finally felt the pain.

The pain steadily scorched through my wrist up through my arm as I ran over to my mom to show her my assortment of purple and blue blotches that speckled my wrist. After a quick assessment, she told me that it was fine and that I hadn't breaking or damaged anything. What? What is this? I know that I broke my wrist. I know what if feels like. Not only the fact that my hand feels like it's being crushed by an elephant, but my mom has the nerve to question my authority! How dare her.

After a car ride home that was awkward at the least, I tried explaining to my mom that I truly was in overbearing pain and that I knew something was wrong. After bickering back and forth, she finally gave up and drove me to the doctor where I found that LIKE ALWAYS, I was right. In your face, mom. Even though roller skating is exciting to do, I think I've learned my lesson on thinking I'm skating like a "pro" but actually ruining my body in the process.

With my shattered wrist and my anger at my mom, tears steadily rolled down my eyes. From the pain to the thought that my mom didn't trust me to tell her about my own pain. For her to even dare to think about me joking about my wrist being broken when I am in pain. How could she? How could she not believe her own daughter? I was furious at her for a while. How could she? think her very own daughter was joking when she is holding her dismantled wrist in her hand, with tears pouring down her eyes? Who did she think I was the boy who cried wolf? Was that who I was to her? Then I took some time to get myself together and realized I was angry over nothing, really, and that it was all just an accident.

But by the time I realized this I was already in a cast and hadn't said a word to my mother in about an hour. She knew that I was mad at her. Then I decided I needed to apologize. She is my mother and may not always make the best choices at first but in the end, everything was A-OK. So I gave her a hug and said I was sorry and that it wasn't her fault that she didn't believe me. But after all that was said and done, I secretly knew that I was, in fact, a pro at skating.

The Giver

Authors note: This is a retelling of the book the giver.

All that was on Jonas's  mind was what assignment he would get and have until he went to the house of the old. Even at the evening meal during the telling of your feelings all he could say was that he was excited and wanted to know what his assignment was. Jonas gets the giver as his assignment.  He is excited and a whole new world opens up for him He will find out what color, love, and memories are. He will also find out why his community is in all sameness and what troubles some people go through to get it this way

Fall

Author's note: This is a personal narrative. I tried to use words that described fall and made you feel as if you were sitting there doing the things I described.

Seeing the leaves turn color and fall off the trees to the ground.  Having to wear sweatshirts and jeans most days. Drinking hot chocolate after school. These describe the season of fall. Just imagine walking home for school and having leaves falling all around you and being all over the ground. You walking home in your favorite sweatshirt and new jeans, then when you get home awaits a glass of hot chocolate. Sounds nice. Fall is in my opinion the best season of the four.

When the leaves on the trees turn brown and orange and slowly fall off of the  trees. Each leaf has its own journey for when it breaks off the branch to when it ever so gently hits the ground.  That’s the first sign that fall is coming.  The leaves are everywhere you go. The leaves falling even gives the air a wonderful smell. When you take every step you hear a small crunch of the leaves being crushed beneath your feet.

Just imagine, waking up in the morning and automatically know that it is getting colder outside and you are going to wear jeans and a sweatshirt to school. You get to wear your favorite sweat shirt with your new jeans. Your are warm in the cold and comfy all day. There is just a thing about wearing sweatshirts that makes you feel as if you’re at home. They also give that sense that you’re wrapped up in a warm fuzzy blanket and want to fall asleep. Wearing jeans also gives you  a sense of comfort. You fell as if you were going to doing nothing all day.

Drinking hot chocolate when it is cold outside is the best. Sitting inside with your sweatshirt on holding a hot cup of coco watching the leaves fall to the ground is peaceful. The hot steam moves ever so slowly around and swirls its way up to your face and makes your bitter cold nose warm once again.  The sweet taste of chocolate when it hits your lips. It makes you feel warm inside for a slit second as it goes into your stomach.  Drinking hot chocolate is also one of the perfect ways to top off and good day, or on a not so good day making it just a little better.

Fall the time of falling leaves, sweatshirts day after day, and steamy hot chocolate. It’s all around wonderful. Fall also means that winter is soon. Fall usually brings the first snow too. From the leaves crunching as you walk under your feet to the hot steam of the hot chocolate warming your face from the cold there is not just one best part about fall.

Soccer( my lie)

soccer
Soccer being the most amazing sport in the whole wide world is loved by many people. I love soccer with all of my heart. It doesn’t matter if i’m playing soccer, or just watching soccer. If soccer wasn’t here I wouldn’t be here either.I live and breathe soccer. If I am sad even just playing with a soccer ball makes me happier. The feeling when you score a goal is a feeling like nothing else. The smelly shoes, shin guard tan, and bruises doesn't change my mind about the greatest sport on the word. Soccer is hard work, uses a lot of your free time but it is worth it. Hanging out with friends doesn’t seem to matter when i’m at a soccer practice. Soccer seems to dais me, it puts me in a trance and I never want to get out of this wonderful trance. Soccer is my life I live and breathe soccer. I think about soccer night and day. This wonderful sport is a blessing to come upon us. Soccer is a love and hate game. You either love it or hate it, and i am a person who loves it.

Favorite People

My favorite person
My favorite person is Skyler Bohn. She is a really cool person. Skyler is one of the sweetest people I know. Hannah and I both agreed to write about Skyler without her knowing. We decided to do this because we just love her so much. Skyler always had the prettiest outfits and the cutest hairstyles. Skyler is in love with One Direction. One day she hopes to be Skyler Styles. Her dream is to marry Harry Styles of One Direction. Skyler is also in my opinion and I think everyone else that she is beautiful! Skyler is also very good at all the sports she plays like soccer and basketball. In general Skyler is one of my favorite people in the whole world.

Complaining

Complaining
Many people complain about their feet hurting on a walk, being too tired to do anything. Everyone complains about one thing or another. You could say that complaining is just human nature. “ I’m hungry, I need food,” Most people complain without even noticing. Complaining in a way can be another way of getting attention. It can be as simple as complaining to a restaurant all the way to calling the police about a complaint. Most people try to avoid complaining but that doesn’t happen most people complain every single day about something. It can be a something as stupid as you hair not looking perfect to someone talking to loud for you to concentrate. Complaining is something that comes so easy to everyone. It comes to someone like how brushing your hair comes natural to most people. Complaining comes natural to most people. Lets face it everyone complains and it is part of our daily routine.

Love

Love
As she lay brokenhearted on her unmade bed she thinks to herself she will never let herself fall for a guy like this again. Sally lay still crying and thinking what she could have done wrong and what his final text to end everything meant. “ I’m Done” Words that stung so deep that it was a wound that would never heal. She looks at the last few texts between them. Then again comes to that last text “ I’m Done”. More tears slip out of her eyes. Sally had thought that this boy so special to her would never even think to hurt her like that. “ I’m Done” that last text she keeps going over in her mind what could she have done wrong. She thinks to herself “ I was loyal never even thought of cheating. I loved him with all  my heart and was the best girlfriend I could be.” Then finally after thinking over just that one text she comes to a conclusion. “ I just wasn’t good enough” She says out loud this time. Then at that very moment she makes a promise to herself she will never again fall for someone. Just that one text brought Sally to think that she would never be good enough for anyone else. Still brokenhearted trying to take in everything that just happened she lay there frozen on her unmade bed in her room silent and dark.

Dream

Dream
As Madyson lays on her deathbed, coughing and slowly dying because of dehydration, this case of dehydration is so bad that it is incurable. The last words that slip out of Madysons  dry lips are “ I should have listened to Rose, “ then she slowly slipped away. Rose being such a good person had told Madyson many times that if she doesn’t drink water she will die. It all started about four weeks ago. Madyson had been having headaches and not wanting to drink anything. She soon became dizzy and unable to walk. Rose had been telling Madyson from the first signs of dehydration that she needed to drink water, but Madyson refused to listen to her. In the third week that this had been happening Madyson fainted and became pale. She was as pale as the moon. She was then rushed into the hospital. There at the hospital she lays there slowly dying still refusing to drink water. Madyson’s skin is now pale and her lips have more crack than the grand canyon. Instead of people bringing her balloons and flowers people brought her hundreds of water bottles. Rose went to see madyson everyday knowing that she wouldn’t drink the water and eventually die. And then a couple of days later Madyson’s  E.K.G machine went to a straight line. Everyone was as sad as a weeping willow. Everyone that went to Madyson’s funeral  brought a water bottle to lay on her grave and for her to have in heaven and so that she would never not drink water again. Everyone hoped she learned her lesson so that she would drink water in heaven.

One Direction

One Direction
Have you heard of the new pop band One Direction? Well most people or for say girls have fallen head over heels for them. They are a new pop band from the United Kingdom and Ireland. Some people may say that they are One Directions “ biggest fans” but they're wrong. My Friends Hannah and Skyler are the legit biggest fans. They have fallen head over heels for them since the day they heard their first hit song, “ What Makes You Beautiful”. Hannah and Skyler know every One Direction song by heart. They have watch every video diary at least  three times. They made a website for computer class and update it almost everyday. Thinks that’s good enough wait till you have Language arts with them. They sing and have their own dance moves to every song they also have all the moves memorized. They video record them singing and dancing to every song. They do that everyday. Hannah and Skyler are One Directions biggest fans because they are totally nuts for these boys. They were the ones who choose to write about One Direction. They have caught One Direction Infection  and they will never get rid of it. Hannah and Skyler are making One Direction t-shirts in our computer class. They are obsessed with  One Direction. They legit LOVE them. They talk about marrying them everyday. Hannah and Skyler are the only people I have seen go this crazy for One Direction or any bad for that matter. They know just about everything there is to know about all of them. Hannah and Skyler are One Direction’s biggest fans ever.
